What is Shiomi Ryugusha?
Shiomi Ryugusha has been erected in a building connected to the canal.
Situated in this unique location connected to the canal, and dedicated to the Dragon God, it has found its place.
The shrine interior is a space dedicated to wishing for the happiness of children.

Founded Ryugusha

Shiomi Ryugusha has been erected in a building connected to the canal. Situated in this unique location connected to the canal, and dedicated to the Dragon God, it has found its place. The shrine interior is a space dedicated to wishing for the happiness of children.

Installed seven planets.

The lighting illuminating the entrance staircase represents the seven planets. The seven lights next to the entrance staircase symbolize the seven planets, depicting the cycle of reincarnation in human life.

From top to bottom, they progress in the order of the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, connecting to the twelve zodiac signs.

Installed 12 constellations.

We expressed the twelve zodiac signs by likening light bulbs to them. The lighting on the ceiling of the water-drawing section represents the twelve zodiac signs.

Our life revolves around the seven planets, and each part of our body is said to be shaped under the influence of the twelve zodiac signs in the mother's womb. The water-drawing section is designed to evoke the image of floating in the amniotic fluid of the mother, providing a healing environment for each part shaped by the twelve zodiac signs.

Installed a primitive ship, considered to be the world's oldest, without sails.

The 'Ashibune' installed within the shrine is a primitive boat without sails, considered to be the world's oldest ship. Its journey, not defying the direction of the wind or the flow of the tide, and the uncertainty of where and when it will arrive, mirrors life itself.

The presence of this reed boat seems to impart a valuable lesson to us, reminding those of us who tend to believe that we can control everything that some things in life are beyond our control.

The protective charm 'Komamori', purified at Shiomi Ryugusha, dedicated to the Dragon God.
'Komamori' is a protective charm prayed for at Shiomi Ryugusha to ensure a lifetime of financial stability, good health, and happiness. The main deity, the Dragon God, is symbolized as a representation of success and development, derived from the imagery of dragons ascending to the heavens. It is believed that wherever the Dragon God moves, a positive 'flow' occurs.

To foster positive connections, some 'Komamori' charms contain a 5-yen coin, although occasionally, there may be 10 yen, 50 yen, 100 yen coins included
We recommend placing the protective charm 'Komamori' in your wallet or smartphone case

Why is the good luch charm 'Komamori' limited to 300 pieces?

Shiomi Ryugusha established with a focus on the happiness of children, prioritizes the well-being of children as the closest beings to the divine. People who wish for the happiness of these children gather, and through the cycle of their prayers, they pray for an even better flow to ascend with the Dragon God in the protective charm 'Komamori.'
In 2021, using salt from Kagoshima Prefecture's Kakeromajima, registered as a World Natural Heritage site, the charms are purified and prayed over. Each charm is carefully crafted, with a maximum of 300 produced per day due to the meticulous process.

It is 11:30-16:30, Friday to Sunday.
We kindly ask you to visit the shrine during the above hours.
  • Q2. About the 'Komamori'

Shiomi Ryugusha, established with a focus on the happiness of children, prioritizes the well-being of children as the closest beings to the divine. Praying for the happiness of these children, we individually dedicate prayers for the protective charm 'Child's Guardian,' hoping for an even better flow to ascend with the Dragon God.
  • Q3. Why is it recommended to receive 'Komamori' up to the age of 13?

In the Heian period, Emperor Seiwa, who was the reigning emperor at that time, conducted a coming-of-age ceremony at Horin-ji Temple in Arashiyama, Kyoto. As the age at that time was 13, it became a tradition for individuals to visit shrines at the age of 13. The deity venerated during these visits is Kokuzo Bosatsu, the 13th bodhisattva. In accordance with this tradition, Shiomi Ryugusha recommends visits for children and grandchildren from before their birth until the age of 13.
  • Q4. About 'Komamori' for those aged 14 and over

We recommend up to the age of 13, but it is not strictly mandatory. Even if your child or grandchild is 14 years or older, we encourage you to visit Shiomi Ryugusha and receive the protective charm 'Child's Guardian.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Achievements in shrine restoration

Sani, Amami Oshima Itsukushima Shrine

Before Restoration
The overall appearance had faded, and there were holes in the ceiling. The torii gate was cracked.
After restoration
We repainted all the faded areas and repaired the torii gate in the same manner. Additionally, for the main hall, we attached new wooden doors and handcrafted a donation box.

Kakeroma Island, Sebu Takachiho Shrine.

Before restoration
The concrete around the shrine and the stairs is peeling. The wooden stairs along the way are non-functional, lacking handrails, posing a hazardous condition.
After restoration
We repainted the concrete around the shrine and the stairs, and installed frames on the windows. Additionally, we added handrails to the wooden stairs along the way and reinstalled them entirely.
